We love weddings!

We can’t deny it, we love weddings.  From the beauty of a lifelong commitment, the joy of seeing family and friends,  and the wealth of creativity that goes into the event – we cannot get enough!

In fact, if not for weddings, Felix Doolittle might not exist.  Felix’s wife Loren is a former wedding photographer, and Felix Doolittle stationery was born when Felix began illustrating the envelopes for the information packets and contracts Loren gave her clients!

From the initial save-the-date to the invitations, seating cards to dinner menus, stationery plays a huge role in every wedding.  After the wedding, the couple will need stationery to write thank you notes and giving the newlyweds a box of personalized writing papers is an elegant and time-honored way to celebrate their union.

Moonrise Kingdom

Wes Anderson’s new film Moonrise Kingdom has an all-star cast, a delightful concept centered around the summer camp AND personalized stationery. What’s not to love!

Summer camp is often such memorable period in a child’s life, and with sleep-away camps, it’s often the first time kids really develop a passion for writing notes and letters (OK, that’s because no electronic devices are allowed, but still!)

Felix created the Junior Camp Postcards with a blank front bordered by a bright color to cultivate the visual artist within each child. The other side features one of Felix’s illustrations of the camp experience and room for the camper to write a small note.  You’ll want to remember to pack color pencils or their small palette of watercolors along with their camp gear!

But they’re not just for kids, we use them too to write postcards from camping trips or even after a day trip through the woods.  You’ll be surprised how fun and inexplicably inspiring a small blank “canvas” is.  Give them a try – your inner artist will thank you!  They’re also 20% off today through Thursday, May 24th.

Wild Horses

As you have probably noticed, Felix is completely enamored with Horses.  From wild stallions to highly trained race and show horses, they are Felix’s favorite animals to paint.  He says his paintings are inspired by his “admiration of their beauty and grace, and as a celebration of the bond between humans and horses.”

We love this photograph of Cindy Sherman reading letters – she seems to have her hands quite full!  We would love to see her exhibition at MoMA that runs through June 11th.

How does your garden grow?

From the popularity of our recipe cards, canning, and cooking labels, we know that fans of Felix Doolittle are true culinary artists, and generous ones at that!  It should then come as no surprise that many are also devoted gardeners.  We have heard stories of container gardens and much larger scale flower and vegetable landscapes, chicken coops, homemade goat’s milk, and llamas – and to all this we say – hooray!

This spring we are celebrating getting dirt under our nails, crossing our fingers for the right amount of rain, and watching our sprouts develop into delicious potatoes, tomatoes and carrots. We’d love to hear more about your flower and vegetable gardens and homesteading efforts.  What is your garden growing this Spring?
